Alternate Energy Solutions for Aquaculture Roundtable and Hydrogen Immersion Tour

Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) and the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre have joined forces to deliver FRDC project 2023-080: Alternative energy solutions for aquaculture supported by funding from the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation on behalf of the Australian Government

We are hosting an event on Friday 30th May that brings together industry leaders, researchers, and government representatives to explore cutting-edge alternative energy solutions for Australia’s aquaculture sector, with a special focus on hydrogen technology applications.

There is also an opportunity to add on a tour to the Blue Economy CRC’s research trial site, the first in Commonwealth waters a day earlier, Thursday 29th May.

WHAT THIS TOUR OFFERS

  • Fully Funded Participation: Economy flights, accommodation at workshop venues, meals, and per diem provided.
  • Hands-on Experience: Demonstration of state-of-the-art hydrogen facilities including the Blue Economy CRC Hydrogen Production and Research Facility, (green hydrogen production via renewable-powered electrolysis, hydrogen storage, compression and distribution systems), hydrogen mobility solutions including Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) MIRAI fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) and hydrogen-powered generators for off-grid and remote use, including Optimal’s 65kW Capstone hydrogen microturbine and Blue Diamond Machinery GEH2 hydrogen generator.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Engage with experts in roundtable discussions and presentations.
  • Optional add on: Fly to Devonport and join day 2 and tours of the 2025 Blue Economy CRC Participants Workshop.

Dress requirements: long sleeves, long pants and steel-toe safety boots are essential to enter the Hydrogen facility. PPE provided.

Transport: Transfer from the Blue Economy CRC offices to the BE CRC hydrogen facility and refuelling station will be provided. Transfer to the Airport at the end of the tour is provided.
