Biography

Dr Md Alamgir Hossain is currently working as a full-time Research Fellow at Queensland Micro-and Nano-technology Centre, Griffith University, Australia to build a bench-scale (12 kW) hydrogen DC microgrid lab for research and industry standards funded by Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre. Before joining Griffith University, he worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia for 1.5 years to develop machine learning models for intermittent renewable energy sources and was with the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department at the Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Bangladesh as an Assistant Professor.

He completed both PhD and Master of Engineering degrees in Electrical Engineering from UNSW, Australia in 2019 and 2016, respectively, where he gained expertise in modeling, designing and controlling converters for renewable energy integration as well as optimizing energy resources. He received B.Sc. Engg. in EEE (with First Class (1st) Honors) from the Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Bangladesh, in 2012.

He was awarded many prestigious scholarships for completing both PhD and Masters degrees, including the University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA), University College Postgraduate Research Scholarship Top-Up, UNSW Tuition Fee Scholarship plus Faculty Top-up, Postgraduate Research Support Scheme (PRSS), University College Postgraduate Research Scholarship (UCPRS) and UNSW Canberra – Study Canberra Scholarship (only top 5% students granted). He has received a number of awards, including the High Impact Publication Awards, the Overall and Second winners at UNSW Research Day Competitions in 2015 and 2018, respectively, Top Peer Reviewer 2019, Outstanding Reviewer from Elsevier and Prime Minister and President Gold Medals. He has published more than 30 high-impact journal papers and 25 international conferences in his specialist field. His research interests include hydrogen DC microgrids, renewable energy integration, ocean energy, artificial intelligence, optimization algorithms, energy prediction, robust control, energy management systems, and energy storage systems.
