The Blue Economy CRC held the first of its Webinar Series with our partner organisations on Friday 21st August, 2020.

This inaugural webinar was an opportunity for the Research Executive and Management team to address our partners with the current research activities underway within the program.

The webinar was timed to commence during Australia’s National Science Week; Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. The National Science Week theme for 2020 is particularly relevant – Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans.

Running each year in August, National Science Week features more than 1,000 events around Australia – including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres. Added to the mix this year, was a webinar providing an ‘Update from the Blue Economy CRC’.

The webinar was facilitated by Professor Lindsey White from Auckland University of Technology, Deputy Program Leader for Blue Economy CRC Research Program 2 – Seafood & Marine Products.

The ‘Update from the Blue Economy CRC’ webinar featured a discussion of our vision and progress, as well as future opportunities, by the Chair of our Board, Greg Johannes, and CEO, John Whittington.

Research Director, Irene Penesis, provided a short update on recent R&D outcomes and what’s next following the completion of Scoping Projects later this year. Research Program updates were provided by each of our Program Leaders.

The webinar was successful with over 90 partners in attendance. A full recording has been made available to those partners who were not in attendance and is available via the Connect platform.

We look forward to the announcement of future webinars, both for partners and the public.

Dates to be announced in the near future.
