PROJECT IN BRIEF
This study will scan the literature for offshore/high energy fish pen designs. It will identify operating envelopes, failure modes and knowledge gaps, and present recommendations for future studies.
It will also review the performance of existing inshore fish pens, assess their suitability for offshore/high energy application, and identify opportunities for improvement in their current environment. It will consider failure modes, maintenance requirements, environmental compatibility and end-of-life strategies.
The study will provide guidance to assist in shorter-term improvements to fish pens; help establish realistic goals for durability in offshore/high energy sites, and introduce new concepts for offshore/high energy fish pens for consideration by BECRC partners.
