David Hope

RESEARCH EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Mr David Hope is the Research Executive Officer for the Blue Economy CRC-Co Ltd.

David is on secondment to the Blue Economy CRC from the University of Tasmania’s Office of Research Services (ORS).  He has worked closely with researchers from a range of disciplines in the management of research funding contracts and development of funding applications, and was the ORS Scheme Leader for the Commonwealth’s Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) and Cooperative Research Centres-Projects (CRC-P) Programs.  In that capacity, he was a key part of the ORS team that supported the successful Blue Economy CRC application to the CRC Program.  More recently, he was responsible for the administrative management of the University of Tasmania’s involvement with the Blue Economy CRC’s initial funding rounds.

David holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania.  He has over 20 years’ experience in the public sector, covering policy and legislative development, project management and financial administration.  His past roles include Manager of the Ports Merger Project and Director of Passenger Transport Policy Branch (at the Tasmanian Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources, now Department of State Growth).  While at Tasmania’s Treasury Department he worked in the economic policy and inter-government financial relations areas and was the Secretary of the State Grants Commission for two years.
