Dr. Yunil Chu received his PhD in School of Civil Engineering, The University of Queensland, Australia in 2021. His PhD research mainly focused on developing a novel offshore floating structure for aquaculture that can be co-located or integrated with offshore renewable energy plants. Throughout the PhD research, Dr. Chu achieved successful research outcomes by publishing four journal papers, one book chapter, one conference paper, and one short science opinion. Prior to the PhD study, he studied Naval Architect and Ocean Engineering at the Seoul National University, South Korea and graduated in 2007. After graduation, he worked as a design approval engineer for 10 years (2007~2017) in DNV. He led over 20 design approval projects for Ships & offshore newbuilding construction, and delivered high quality solutions for design development & optimization and remedy plans against structural defects and damages. His knowledge and experience on the offshore engineering in developing floating structure for various objectives can make high level of research portfolio and quality more competitive and outstanding in academic research field, which would create new opportunities to engage with international and local industry partners.
