Saitec Offshore Technologies is a spin-off from Saitec Engineering, an infrastructure engineering company with more than 30 years of experience. Saitec is one of the most prestigious engineering firms in Spain at present. It carries out its activities from a professional and independent standpoint, with a strong commitment to innovation, sustainable development and respect for the environment. Saitec Offshore Technologies was created with the objective of globalizing offshore wind by developing a cost-efficient concrete floating technology which effectively removes the barriers related to water depth.

SATH technology (Swinging Around Twin Hull) was conceived as a truly game-changer for floating wind market which reduces both CapEx and OpEx and enhances local content. In August 2020, Saitec Offshore Technologies installed its first medium-scale (1:6 prototype of a 10MW) floating wind platform, called BlueSATH, in Santander Bay (Spain).

Next step is DemoSATH, a 2MW wind turbine deployment using SATH Technology to be commissioned at BIMEP open sea test area (Basque Country, Spain) with the collaboration of RWE Renewables. The construction of the concrete floater is now underway, after the contract was signed in September 2020.

Saitec has also initiated the processing of GEROA, the first offshore wind farm on the Basque Coast. GEROA will be the continuation of the 2MW DemoSATH prototype project that Saitec will install in 2022 at BIMEP. The initiative aims to boost the value chain in the Basque Country with the installation of an experimental wind farm of 3 wind turbines with a total power of 45 MW.

The company is currently participating in calls for tenders and developing commercial projects all over the world with a particular focus in UK, France and Japan, where the company has its own subsidiary (Saitec Offshore Japan KK).
