Craig Johnson

Craig Johnson is a Research Professor at IMAS. He was Head of the Ecology & Biodiversity Centre, and Associate Director, at IMAS for 10 years (2010-2019) before taking the role of inaugural Executive Director of Innovation & Enterprise at UTAS (2020-21).

His research is broadly on the space-time dynamics of marine ecosystems, and predicting the distribution of seafloor biodiversity at continental scales. He has worked on kelps for >40 y, with current work focused on development of commercial kelp industries and restoration of kelp beds. His research is published in >200 peer-reviewed publications including several edited books, and his work has been cited over 15,000 times (H-Index 65).
