Hossein Agheshlui

Principal Offshore Wind Engineer

BMT

Hossein is a Principal Offshore Wind Engineer at BMT with over 16 years of industry and research experience. He holds a PhD in structural engineering and an MSc in Offshore Structures Engineering. He was also a researcher and lecturer at The University of Melbourne, authoring several publications in top structural engineering journals and conferences.

Prior to joining BMT, Hossein worked at DNV as a Principal/Senior Structural Engineer where he was actively engaged in renewable energy projects, focusing on offshore wind, also onshore wind and utility-scale solar. He worked on design and assessment of several offshore, nearshore, and onshore wind projects in the Asia Pacific region, on projects in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia. Additionally, Hossein has served as an expert witness for renewable projects and has conducted root cause analyses and structural health monitoring on these structures.

Hossein has expertise in preliminary and detailed design of steel and concrete structures in wind, solar, and oil and gas sectors. His experience includes offshore and onshore wind projects, foundation systems, seismic, dynamic, and fatigue analysis of structures, soil-foundation-structure interaction, structural technical reviews of assets, development of integrity assessment programs, life extension of assets, and monitoring and analysis of structures’ performance under extreme loading conditions. He also has extensive experience in continuum mechanics and advanced Finite Element Analysis of structures.
