NRE Tas

John is the Manager, Partnerships, Programs and Divisional Projects with the NRE Tas Marine Resources Business Unit. John’s background includes state, Commonwealth and international marine resource management, as well as Indigenous affairs and human resources. John has an extensive history with Tasmanian marine resources, including aquaculture planning and development, fisheries management, and compliance and licensing. He led economic development and fisheries programs in Torres Strait and has recently been a lead contributor to the development of the Tasmanian Government’s new Salmon Plan. John is also a keen dinghy sailor and recreational water user.

NRE Tas is responsible for the sustainable management of the State’s natural and cultural heritage for the benefit of the Tasmanian community. The Department works collaboratively with research organisations such as the Blue Economy CRC. Research collaborations help inform contemporary marine policy and planning.
