Webinar: Mapping and Analysis of Blue Economy Policy and Legislative Arrangements

This webinar will present the findings from Project 5.20.007: Mapping and Analysis of Blue Economy Policy and Legislative Arrangement.

The objectives of this project included:

(i) Map the existing policy and legislative environment (i.e., policies and legislation and responsible agencies) as they relate to blue economy uses, activities and resources across multiple sectors and jurisdictions;

(ii) Undertake cross-sector analyses to identify gaps and overlaps that may hinder the development and operation of blue economy activities with a focus on those relating to integrated seafood and energy production systems; and

(iii) Develop a searchable online database of the Blue Economy policy and regulatory environment.

The presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion on the implications of the project’s findings for future research on policy and regulation as part of the Blue Economy CRC.

Name: Dr Miguel Frohlich
Affiliation: The University of Queensland
Bio: Dr Miguel Frohlich is a postdoctoral research fellow at the UQ Centre for Policy Futures. He is an environmental planner and lawyer with over 12 years of experience working in the private and academic sector. His main research interests are governance and management of social-ecological systems, in particular, knowledge gaps in the fields of environmental planning, environmental law and policy, coastal management, climate change adaptation, and sustainability.

 

 

Name: Dr Pedro Fidelman
Affiliation: The University of Queensland
Bio: Dr Pedro Fidelman is the acting director for the UQ Centre for Policy Futures, where he leads strategic projects in the Environment, Energy and Sustainability theme, including the Centre’s contribution to the Blue Economy CRC. Pedro’s research focuses on environmental policy and governance with an emphasis on the role of institutions (e.g., policy, regulation, decision-making processes) in addressing environmental and sustainability issues.
